Workshop: the Future of Spatial Design

Lyongo is part of a workshop about the future of spatial design at the Nieuwe Instituut on 12 April.

The spatial planning of the Netherlands is back on the drawing boards of governments and designers. They are trying to find answers to major social and environmental challenges that affect us all, such as climate change, housing, energy transition and social justice. The exhibition ‘Designing the Netherlands. 100 Years of Past & Present Futures’ at the Nieuwe Instituut shows a long and leading tradition in spatial design. It is the starting point for this workshop.

But what exactly is the role of the designer and does it still correspond to what will be needed in the future? How are designers equipped for complex spatial, ecological, and social questions? What can we learn from the past, present to design the Netherlands in the future? Lyongo will discuss these questions among other things during this program on 12 April.

Or join the public evening program by Nieuwe Instituut. This program is part of the New European Bauhaus festival. The New European Bauhaus connects the objectives of the European Green Deal to our everyday living environment. It calls on all European citizens to help build a sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful future.
