In October 2022 we were asked to contribute to the magazine Beton & Staalbouw. Lyongo wrote about working with timber and how this material influences the Caribbean designs that he works on.

“20 years ago I had to design a housing complex completely constructed in timber. There was still a lot of suspicion about building with timber. Was it good enough? What about sound insulation? Will the material last a long time? Now it seems it is the only good solution for construction. I’m a bit skeptical about that… Don’t just join the bashing and canceling of steel and concrete – but try to analyze which materials you need to build sustainably and quickly. For example, think of steel structures that we can reuse.”
