Kombiná at Holland House Colombia

Another premiere for Kombiná. This time our documentary will travel all the way to Colombia for a showing at Holland House Colombia! On May 21st the film will be shown in Medellín.

With more than 400 members, Holland House Colombia is a powerful network for Dutch entrepreneurs. For us, it is very special that we have been invited by this network to show Kombiná during one of their events.

About Holland House

Holland House Colombia organizes various monthly events in the Netherlands, Colombia, Aruba and Curaçao. Holland House Colombia has, supported by the Dutch government, developed into the strategic partner for entrepreneurs with export ambitions, business plans and growth objectives in Colombia. The Colombian economy is much better on the map than stereotypes often show. It is a diversified economy with a strong trade, of approximately 3 billion per year, with the Netherlands.

Kombiná in relation to Colombia

The network has a large reach in the Caribbean, Colombia and other parts of Central and South America. Events are regularly organized for the members. This time the city that hosts the event is Medellín. Medellín has always been one of Lyongo’s sources of inspiration for his designs. “It was the trips to Colombia and Medellín in particular that convinced me that architecture can contribute to a better living environment. The principle of urbanismo social is something I try to apply in my designs in other parts of the world. This, along with footages from my earlier trips to Medellín, is further explained in the film. ”

Urbanismo Social is an urban development concept developed in Medellín that explicitly focuses on both infrastructural and social aspects to improve the quality of life at the neighborhood and urban level. The effects of this approach are significant: crime has decreased drastically and feelings of safety have increased. This was made possible with connections between the suburbs and the center with metros and cable cars, and well-equipped educational facilities such as libraries and community centers.
