The team of lyongo architecture is growing! Meet our new colleague Zeynep Yanikomeroglu. She started at the beginning of 2025 as a designer at our firm.
Zeynep is currently working on international projects that are mostly based in the Dutch Caribbean. “For me it’s very exciting to learn about the Caribbean context. Every design that our firm creates is about making places where people can meet, no matter the type of project. Which I find really interesting.”
Working on making a better environment
While writing her thesis about creating an inclusive living environment Zeynep first came across lyongo architecture. My research was about physically disabled adults and their families and how we can make a better environment for them. I was very happy to see like-minded people that are passionate about inclusivity and are also very vocal about it.”
Since she’s originally from Turkey, Zeynep would love to work on designing for vulnerable groups there. “It is my dream to build a toolkit that can help adapt houses of disabled individuals – for which there are generally fewer facilities here – in order to make them can be comfortable in their own space.”
The growth of the firm
Lyongo architecture is now a team of eight — including four designers, one urban designer, and two project managers. From the start, we also invested in setting up a PR and marketing department, which has been a full-time part of the team since this year. Besides our own team, we also collaborate closely with a network of trusted partners.
Lyongo: “It’s really special to see our firm in Amsterdam growing nearly three years after we first set it up. Nice to hear that designers find our work so interesting that they want to be a part of it. We’re expanding — both in team size and the number of projects. We’ll keep on focusing on creating spaces where everyone feels welcome and comfortable, and perhaps that’s exactly what draws people to us, especially the new generation of designers.”
Our work
We are very happy that the firm keeps on growing. Zeynep is part of our team based in Amsterdam. The firm has a branch in Amsterdam and Willemstad, where the team works on high-profile designs all over the world. Our portfolio shows how architecture can contribute to social cohesion and cultural inclusivity, creating living environments in which everyone feels at home.
