Lecture Fontys MAU

On February 21, Lyongo gives a lecture at the Fontys Academy of Architecture and Urbanism. This follows his earlier presentation in the fall of 2024, where he shared inspiring ideas about architecture—ideas that remain highly relevant in today’s world.

One of the key questions Lyongo explored is ‘Can I create a place where people feel a sense of belonging and feel at home if I do not know the people I am designing for?’ This inquiry emphasizes the importance of understanding the social and cultural context of the spaces we create.

During the upcoming lecture, he will also engage with students on pressing questions such as: ‘What influence does demographic change in society have on the work of an architect?’ and ‘Is architecture about creating iconic buildings, or is it about addressing social challenges that we encounter as human beings?’ For Lyongo, the role of architects extends beyond aesthetics and landmark structures; they have a responsibility to create spaces that genuinely serve and support society.

This lecture promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking session for students and professionals alike, offering a fresh perspective on the evolving role of architecture in a rapidly changing world.
