Architecture is about more than just creating a building; it’s about crafting a complete experience where exterior and interior merge seamlessly. Through our collaboration with Sas’s Styling & Stuff, we bring this vision to life within several of our projects. By choosing second-hand furniture the interior becomes as sustainable as our designs.
Two residential projects, Smithplein and Den Kura, illustrate the transformative power of well-designed interiors. These two homes go beyond aesthetics, reshaping how people interact with and experience their environments.
Homes that inspire
At Smithplein, the task was to combine historic architectural frameworks with modern comfort and contemporary design. The project perfectly balances the charm of the old with the functionality of the new. The historic workers’ cottages, with their tiled floors and pitched roofs, retain their character while being enhanced with soft, warm colors that complement the red exteriors. Natural materials, such as wood and reed, were used to soften the spaces and create a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
At Den Kura, the focus was on making the interiors feel softer and accentuating the spaciousness. A cooler color palette was chosen, which gives the interior a fresh and calm aesthetic. Sasha’s furniture choices enhance the sense of space, making the rooms feel larger and more open. Whenever possible she chose second-hand furniture over new furniture.
Second-hand furniture
Sustainability was a guiding principle throughout these projects. By opting for second-hand furniture, we reduced waste, lowered costs, and embraced an eco-friendly approach to furnishing. This choice underscores our commitment to integrating environmental consciousness into every design decision.
The collaboration with Sas’s Styling & Stuff, led by Sacha Liedorp, has proven to be a perfect match. The results speak for themselves: spaces where thoughtful design, sustainability, and functionality come together harmoniously. Check out this new publication ‘When exterior meets interior’ with more information on these inspiring projects and our collaboration. By sharing these stories, we hope to inspire others to embrace sustainable and thoughtful design practices, proving that beautiful spaces can also contribute to a better future.
